“…I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them! The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms: greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.” Gordon Gekko
That’s right folks for the top 1% of us all greed is good and it is making them rich, rich, rich while killing ALL of us at the same time. Remember in Wall Street, the movie from which I just quoted Gordon Gekko, he bought, broke into parts and then sold Blue Star Airlines? Are the 1%ers doing the same to USA Incorporated?
Think about it. When was the last time you bought something made in the good ol’ US of A and/or wasn’t made of some form of plastic?
Check out this book, Plastics, A Toxic Love Story by Susan Freinkel or rent this movie, Capitalism, A Love Story by Michael Moore or this documentary, Gaslands, The largest domestic natural gas drilling boom in history has swept across the United States. The technology of “fracking” or hydraulic fracturing has unlocked a “Saudia Arabia of natural gas” just beneath us. And it’s now in Ohio.
Crude oil and natural gas are fueling Capitalism and at the expense of our natural environments. Yesterday I asked you to go climb a tree, today I ask you to take a closer look at what is happening around you and then I ask yourself what can we do about it?
