10 Point Focus
- Explore Sustainability?
The capacity to endure; how biological systems (ecosystems) remain diverse and productive over time. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems and for humans, sustainability is the potential for long-term maintenance of well being, which includes the environment, the economy, and social dimensions.
- 2. Why Sustainability?
Healthy ecosystems and environments provide vital goods and services to humans and other living things. Sustainability economics involves ecological economics where social, cultural, health-related and monetary/financial aspects are integrated.
- 3. Who should explore Sustainability?
- 4. When to explore Sustainability?
Once a day to start
- 5. How to practice Sustainability?
Ways of living more sustainably can take many forms from reorganizing living conditions (e.g., ecovillages, eco-municipalities and sustainable cities), reappraising economic sectors (permaculture, green building, and sustainable agriculture) and adjusting individual lifestyles by reconnecting to Nature and natural resources (play in a park, reuse glass bottles and thrifting sustainable goods).
- 6. Connect Ohio
From Cleveland (northeast Ohio) to Cincinnati (southwest Ohio) and several cities in between for common cause called Sustainability.
- 7. Ecotechnology
Meld modern technology (ex. social media) with Nature in the making of a sustainable Ohio. Some examples entire walk will be documented with a Blackberry Smartphone and information distribution will be through email, websites, twitter, Facebook, text messaging and the internet in general.
- 8. Zero Waste
The plan and design of the Sustainability Walk is to use and reuse used stuff. No waste will be generated or discarded. Garbage can be eliminated with strategic pre-planning and a detailed action plan.
- 9. Healthy Living
Four great ways to reconnect with nature get exercise and attain healthy living. Walking, sleeping, eating and meeting in Nature in the outdoors for 30 days, 27 cities.
